CISCE stands for Council for The Indian School Certificate Examination and is the regulatory body that conducts the ISC and ICSE board examinations. CISCE has written to the Chief Ministers of all the states and union territories to seek permission for re-opening the schools from January 4, 2021. The permission demands only partial re-opening so that students of class 10th and 12th who are about to appear for the board exams next year can participate in projects, practical work, SUPW and other learning sessions. CISCE also stated that the schools will be opened in strict adherence to all the guidelines and protocols as prescribed by the government. CISCE shall prescribe the SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for all the ISC and ICSE affiliated schools to follow.
CISCE has also asked for the dates from the Chief Election Commissioner, for the state elections to be held in April-May 2021. This is done so that CISCE can finalise the ICSE board exam 2021 and ISC board exam 2021 dates and ensure that board examination dates do not clash and no interruption or inconvenience is caused to the students or the conducting schools. Schools all over India affiliated to CBSE, CISCE or state boards are ordered to remain closed since March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown situation.
