On the occasion of “Sahibzada Diwas” which is celebrated on December 27 every year, UP CM Yogi Adityanath organized “Gurbani Kirtan” and “langar” at his official residence.
During the celebrations, the CM announced the history of Sikh Gurus to be a part of the UP-history curriculum. He suggested that the schools must organize debates and celebrate this day in the memory of the protectors of the Hindus. He addressed the gathering and asked the schools to make SAHIBZADA DAY – THE REAL CHILDRENS DAY and set inspirational examples for future generations.
Yogi addressed the gathering saying that no society can move ahead if it forgets history. The Sikh society is known for its hard work and bravery. December 27 is the day when the four ‘Sahibzada’ (sons) of the tenth Sikh guru and his mother Mata Gujri were martyred. The Sikh gurus sacrificed their lives to defend the Hindu Religion. He added that every Sikh was ready to take the lead when it came to “Bhakti, Shakti, Purushartha aur Parisharam”. Yogi, therefore emphasized that December 27 should be celebrated as ‘Real’ Children’s Day in schools and colleges.
CM Yogi along with UP Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma and other government officials dressed in Kesari turbans exhibited secularism and accepted “langar prasad” on the occasion along with the seers of the Sikh community.
Deputy CM Maurya also spoke on “how the Sikhs fought for religion and the country cannot be forgotten”.
The school children recited the “Anant Sahib path” to conclude the function.
