As per the latest news from Madhya Pradesh Government, it has decided to re-open the schools for class 10th and 12th students, from 18th December 2020. The decision was taken for the benefit of class 10th and 12th students, who shall be appearing for the upcoming board exams. In order to help them with their board preparations and syllabus completion, the decision might be a big relief to the students, who were stressful about the board preparations.
While it is mandatory for class 10th and 12th students to attend the classes, it has been made optional for class 9th and 11th students. Though the state government has given permission to all the school to re-open and conduct classes as usual, still the final call will be taken by the school authorities and administration, that how physical or in-person classes shall be conducted. Considering the prevailing COVID-19 situation and availability of teaching staff, the conduct and frequency of classes shall be decided by school authorities.
Madhya Pradesh State Education Department has also issued the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for reopening schools for class 9th to 12th. Since the schools are set to re-open after almost nine months, the school authorities also need to prepare themselves with strict adherence to the protocols and guidelines. The guidelines as issued by the MP government are as follows:
- The state government has made consent of parents’ mandatory for all students who wish to attend the school. Students will have to carry written permission from their parents in order to attend the classes.
- The guidelines state that all group activities including morning assembly, cultural or sports activities and use of swimming pool are strictly prohibited.
- School authorities have been directed to ensure that social distancing norms are followed by students while they are in campus. School administrators should ensure that there is no overcrowding or grouping of students.
- Social distancing norms will have to be followed inside school transportation and all vehicles should be sanitized at regular intervals.
