On June 25, 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, declared to cancel the pending Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations across the country. The decision came out in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has created havoc all across the globe, giving rise to a health emergency.
Now, the central education board has announced that the result of both the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations will be out by July 15, so that the students can go on and apply for admissions in higher education courses.
While the result declared for the Class 10 examinations will be considered as final, the CBSE has announced to offer the Class 12 students the choice of either accepting marks based on the new marking scheme or write their pending papers in the near future. "Students will be given the choice to decide if they want their results based on the methodology of assessment as decided by #CBSE or choose to write the exams again. I would like to reiterate that the health of students, parents, and teachers is our prime concern", tweeted HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal.
Earlier, the CBSE was supposed to conduct some 40 odd pending papers between July 1 to July 15, 2020. The board, however, decided to cancel the exams due to the COVID-19 pandemic and move ahead with the process of alternate evaluation.
