Nationality –Indian citizens will be allowed to sit for this entrance. Apart, subjects of Nepal or Bhutan and Tibetan refugees are also eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification – To be eligible for the IFS entrance exam, candidates must bear a Bachelor’s degree in any one subject from the following - Botany, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Mathematics, Geology, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, Agriculture or Forestry from a well-known university or parallel to it.

Age Limit – Candidates sitting for the IFS exam must be more than 21 years of age and below 32 years of age. However, an age relaxation facility is given depending upon the category of the applicant.
