The bench that rejected the plea included Justices Ashok Bhushan and R Subhash Reddy. Representing the petitioners was advocate Shivaji M Jadhav, who stated that conducting an exam of the level of Maharashtra Common Entrance Test during the times of COVID-19 pandemic will pose a high health risk.

“Conducting the MHT CET amid the COVID-19 crisis would pose a massive threat to the health and safety of lakhs of students and also other stakeholders such as examiners, invigilators, and other support staff”, said Jadhav. The bench, however, believed that “career of students cannot be put in peril” and “life must go on”. With that understood, it is clear that the MHT CET 2020 will go ahead as scheduled.
