AIBE 2020 Application Deadline Extended, Exam To Be Held On November 8

The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) XV 2020, a national level entrance exam for admissions to the practice of law conducted for law graduates or candidates who are in their final year or final semester, will be held on November 8, 2020, announced the Bar Council of India.

Also, the council has extended the application deadline to October 24. Soon after, candidates will be able to download their admit cards from October 31 onwards. The AIBE 2020 was previously slated for August 16. The council then announced to postpone the exam given the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Council reserves the right to extend the said examination date in case of unavoidable circumstances”, stated the council. For the uninformed, the All India Bar Examination is an open book exam that incorporates 100 objective type questions from legal subjects. The exam goes on for three hours and there is no negative marking. Lastly, candidates who qualify the AIBE obtain certificates of practice (COP) by the council. Courtesy of these certificates, they are allowed to practice in a court of law in India.
