The Board of Secondary Education of Rajasthan will conduct the remaining Class 10 board exams starting, today, that is, June 29, 2020. The board has received the green signal from the top court to hold the two pending exams, which will now be conducted on June 29 and 30.
Earlier, Maghi Devi, the mother of an examinee of Class 10, had filed a plea before the High Court in May asking the court to abandon the pending board exams. On May 29, the petition was dismissed by the High Court during a hearing that took place via a video conferencing.
State's advocate Manish Singhvi said that the bench has dismissed the plea after hearing both the sides. The appeal said that the Class 10 pending exams, scheduled for June 29 and 30, will witness around 11,86,418 students, and the 120 centres allotted for the exams have previously been used as quarantine centres for migrant workers. This will can give birth to a huge health crisis as we have not yet overcome the COVID-19 emergency.
The petition also cited the June 26's order of the top court regarding the scrapping of the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. It should be mentioned that all the pending CBSE board exams were postponed due to the nationwide lockdown that came into effect on March 25. Furthermore, given the increasing danger of the Novel Coronavirus, the exams were, at last, decided to be scrapped.
