Union HRD Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal had earlier cited that it will be only after August 15 that schools and colleges will be allowed to re-open in the country
During a Facebook Live programme that took place on Saturday, that is, June 13, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh stated that the final call on organising school and college exams in the state is set to be taken soon after June 30, 2020. The Punjab CM also mentioned about the upcoming decision by the central government of India regarding the re-opening of colleges in the country. The verdict is expected to come out on July 1, 2020.
Since numerous doubts were floating around concerning the delayed exams, the Punjab CM made it clear that the state government has little control over the matter. The decisions taken by the University Grants Commission (UGC) have the last say as all of the universities and colleges in the state are affiliated to the institution in some way or the other.
“The UGC is expected to issue fresh guidelines on the issue of conduct of exams on July 1, based on the Central government’s decisions after lockdown 5.0/Unlock 1.0 ends on June 30”, stated the Punjab Chief Minister.
Moreover, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal had earlier announced that schools and colleges across the country should be expected to re-open only after August 15, 2020. “After August the process of opening schools will be started. A final decision in this regard will be taken only after assessing the prevailing conditions. After August, new sessions will also start in universities”, said the HRD minister.
