The National Students Union of India (NSUI), a student unit of Indian National Congress (INC), has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a delay of the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), which is currently scheduled to transpire on July 30.

"NSUI Karnataka has filed a PIL in the respected High Court of Karnataka requesting to intervene and postpone KCET exams which is scheduled to conduct on July 30 and July 31", read a post on the NSUI's social media handle.

Earlier, on July 21, the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Higher Education Dr CN Ashwathnarayan announced that the state is all set to hold the KCET on July 30 and July 31.

The government claimed that it is prepared to conduct the exam as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with thermal screening, mandatory usage of masks, and strictly followed physical distancing norms. Also, the exam centres will be sanitized two days before the exam, informed the minister.

Besides, the state government has decided to postpone the PG-CET and Diploma-CET exams as the final year exams are yet to ensue for the students aspiring to sit for the same. The PG-CET and Diploma-CET exams were previously scheduled for August 8-9 and August 9, respectively.
