Sources have reported that the pending CBSE class 12 board exams may eventually end up being revoked and students could graduate based on an alternate grading method. The students, however, may also get the option of writing their exams in the future.
Though scheduled in July, the CBSE class 12 board exams now seem very likely to be shelved due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country is alarming, and sources have reported that the central board would definitely not like to put the lives of the students in danger. Nonetheless, as mentioned before, students may still get the option to write their exams sometime later if they want to.
Moreover, as many as 19 states and UTs, including Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala are done with their respective class 12 board exams. What this means is that the universities and colleges in these states and UTs will soon start the admission processes and the students enrolled for CBSE class 12 board exam lag behind their counterparts because of the delay in exams.
"States which have wrapped up (their exams) will start their admission process (for colleges and universities) soon. CBSE students will be left behind if their exams are postponed beyond July 15,” said a government official. Many universities in Bihar are likely to start their admission process soon" said an official from CBSE.
Exams like Hindi (Elective), Home Science, Sociology, Computer Science (Old), Computer Science (New), Business Studies, Geography, Hindi (Core), Information Practice (New), Information Technology and Bio-Technology, and Information Practice (Old) remain pending. The CBSE is expected to release an official notification by Tuesday in the answer of a petition filed before the Supreme Court by the students' parents.
As for the JEE (Main), JEE (Advanced), and NEET exams, "these can be postponed further but will not be scrapped", said the official.
