All Entrance Examinations In Telangana Postponed Until Further Notice

Given the ongoing COVID-19 health emergency, the Telangana government had to cancel the Class 10 board examinations and declare the results based on internal assessment. Now, after the cancellation of school exams, all kind of entrance exams in the state for admissions into various courses have been deferred until further notice, announced the Telangana government on Tuesday, June 30.
In reply to the petition filed by National Students Union of India (NSUI) Telangana unit president Venkat Balmoor before the high court, the Telangana government submitted has an affidavit. The affidavit said that all kind of entrance exams in the state stand deferred until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the proposal of reimposing lockdown in Hyderabad and adjacent areas.
The PIL had attacked the state government's plans of conducting entrance exams in the times a health emergency, which may put the lives of many in danger. The court then asked the government to inform whether it was planning to impose lockdown in Hyderabad and other districts to have control over the situation and how was it possible to conduct entrance exams right now. In reply, the advocate general, who was representing the state government, asked the high court to grant some time and came back with an affidavit that declared all the entrance exams as deferred.
Scheduled from July 1, the now postponed entrance exams include Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Entrance Test (EAMCET), POLYCET (entrance for polytechnic courses), Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET for admission into MBA and MCA courses), ECET (Engineering Entrance Test meant for lateral entry for polytechnic students into engineering courses), PGCET (common entrance for post-graduate courses in various universities), PECET (entrance test for physical education courses), LAWCET (common entrance test for admission into law colleges), and EDCET (common entrance test for admission into education colleges).
