All the Secondary School Certificate (Class 10) exams in Telangana have been postponed by the state govt. While the high court had directed the govt not to conduct the pending papers in the GHMC region, the state govt has decided to postpone the exams across the state.
Earlier, the state high court had heard a PIL (public interest litigation) concerning the class 10 exams and only after having a hold of the judgement’s copy, the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced the postponement of the exams in the entire state. The petition was filled by Balakrishna, an academic, and the special hearing involved chief justice Raghvendra Singh Chouhan and justice B Vijaysen Reddy.
The decision of the state govt came after a high-level meeting that included the CM, education minister, and other relevant personnel. “We shall decide our strategy as to what to do in the wake of prevailing Covid-19 pandemic across the state”, said the state education minister Sabita Indra Reddy.
It is worth noting that students in Telangana had already written their Telugu and Hindi exams before the country went into lockdown. Recently, the state govt was preparing to conduct the remaining exams in the state except for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation region. The chief minister, however, cited that exams should be conducted concurrently across the state. Besides, students who opt to write their exams in September, later this year, will also be treated as regular students only, asserted the state govt.
