UKPSC Overview

UKPSC stands for Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. It is a state governed agency that is granted the charter by the Constitution of India. The major role of UKPSC is to conduct examinations to recruit potential candidates for entry-level appointments to various Civil Services and government departments in the state of Uttarakhand.

Exams Conducted by UKPSC

UKPSC conducts recruitment examination for Provincial Civil Services (PCS). PCS officers hold various posts at district, divisional, and state level for revenue administration and maintaining law and order. The PCS exam is also conducted in the following stages:

  1. Combined State/Upper Subordinate Preliminary Examination.
  2. Combined State/Upper Subordinate Main Examination.

UKPSC Exam Pattern

All candidates who are preparing to appear for the UKPSC PCS exam, should have a clear insight of the exam pattern. The exam pattern is mentioned in the official notification and it gives a comprehensive idea about the syllabus, subjects, and time limit allowed for the exam. UKPSC recruitment process comprises of the following stages:

  1. Preliminary Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Personal Interview

The Prelims exam is an objective type test that is conducted in offline mode. The exam consists of 250 questions and the time allowed is 4 hours. 

The Mains exam is a descriptive test comprising of seven papers of different subjects. The duration of the Mains exam is 3 hours and total marks will be 1500.

Candidates qualifying for the Mains exam will be shortlisted for the interview and the final selection of the candidates will be made only after qualifying for the interview.
