RRB Overview

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is a government organisation established in the year 1988. The major role and responsibility of RRB include the appointment of potential employees to work in the Indian Railways. Exams Conducted by RRB

The recruitments in Indian Railways are regulated by RRB and RRC (Railway Recruitment Cells). RRBs hold the responsibility of conducting recruitment to all Group C (Technical and Non-Technical) posts. RRCs hold the responsibility of conducting exams for Group D recruitment.

RRB Exams Calendar

The RRB Exam dates for the 2020 recruitment are released in the RRB calendar 2020. For the year 2020, RRB has announced that exams for various posts shall be conducted from 15th December onwards.

RRB Exam Dates

The important dates for various RRB exams are as follows:

1. RRB NTPC exam is scheduled to be held from 15th December 2020 onwards.

2. RRB Group D exams are scheduled to take place between April 2021 to June 2021.

3. RRB Ministerial and Isolated categories exams are scheduled to be held between 15th to 18th December 2020.

4. RRB ALP exam dates for 2020 are yet to be notified.

5. RRB JE exam date for 2020 are yet to be notified.

Vacancies for Various RRB Posts

The number of vacancies is decided by the recruiting authority for various posts in the Indian Railways. 

1. Total vacancies for RRB NTPC post for 2020 are 35208.

2. Total vacancies for RRB Group D post for 2020 are 103769.

3. Total vacancies for RRB JE post for 2020 are 13464.

4. Total vacancies for RRB Ministerial and Isolated categories post for 2020 are 1665.

RRB Exams Eligibility

It is very important to check for eligibility before filling up the application form. The eligibility criteria are specified for age, nationality and educational qualification. So, the candidate should check whether one falls under the eligibility so that the application has no chance of getting rejected. 

1. RRB Group D Exam

• Age: Minimum and maximum age of the candidate should be 18 years and 33 years, respectively.

• Educational Qualification: Candidate must have passed class 10th.

2. RRB NTPC Exam

• Age: Minimum and maximum age of the candidate should be 18 years and 33 years, respectively.

• Educational Qualification: Candidate must have passed class 12th or have a graduation degree.

3. RRB JE Exam

• Age: Minimum and maximum age of the candidate should be 18 years and 33 years, respectively.

• Educational Qualification: Candidate must have a three years diploma in civil /mechanical/electrical/electronic/computer engineering.

4. RRB ALP Exam

• Age: Minimum and maximum age of the candidate should be 18 years and 28 years, respectively.

• Educational Qualification: Candidate must have passed Class 10th/SSLC & ITI/ or Diploma/Degree in Engineering.

RRB Exams Pattern

It is necessary to understand the exam pattern as it sets an expectation level in the minds of the candidates. They get a comprehensive idea about the syllabus, types of questions and weightage of each subject. 

1. The RRB NTPC exam has two stages of CBT (Computer-based test). The first stage is of 100 marks and the second stage is of 120 marks. The allowed time is 90 minutes for both the papers.

2. The RRB ALP exam comprises of two stages of CBT of 75 and 100 marks.

3. RRB JE exam comprises of two stages. The first stage has four subjects of total 100 marks and the second stage has five subjects of total 100 marks.

4. RRB Group D exam comprises of CBT and a Physical Efficiency Test.
