RBI Overview

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is India’s apex banking institution which is responsible for all the issue and supply of the Indian currency into the economy and the banking system. The RBI conducts the following major examinations:

 

  1. RBI Grade B Exam

RBI Exams Calendar

 

The RBI Exam dates for the 2020 recruitment are released in the RBI calendar for 2020. A notification with details of RBI examinations 2020, is yet to be released on the official portal of with details and technicalities of RBI examinations. Since the RBI examination dates are subject to change from time to time, hence the candidates are advised to keep checking the official portal for recent updates.


 

RBI Exam Dates

 

The important RBI examination dates are as follows:

  1. Through RBI Grade B Exam, successful candidates are directly inducted into the banks under departments like department of economic policy and research, and department of statistics and information management.  The tentative date for RBI Grade B exam is November 9, 2020.

  2. The notification containing dates for RBI Grade C exam are generally published in December every year. 

  3. RBI Assistant Exam is scheduled to be held on February 14, 2020.

  4. The online application date for RBI Junior Engineer Exam is yet to be released.


 

Vacancies for Various RBI Exams

 

The RBI vacancies for various posts are decided by the recruiting body. The RBI vacancies are mentioned below for the following exams:

 

  1. This year, RBI is going to employee 300 officers for the Grade B posts. The 300 vacancies are combined for three departments of Grade b, General, DEPR and DSIM

  2. The RBI has released 61 vacant posts for Grade C officers on a contract basis, for the year 2020.

  3. RBI is planning to recruit 926 candidates for the post of Assistant in different offices of RBI, across the country.

  4. RBI has released a total of 24 vacancies for the post of Junior Engineer.


 

RBI Exams Eligibility

 

It is very important to check for the eligibility criteria before applying for the examination. A candidate should be aware of whether he or she does fall under the eligible category so that the application has no chance of getting rejected afterwards. The eligibility criteria for various RBI is mentioned as follows:

 

  1. RBI Grade B Exam:

 

  • Age: The minimum age requirement is 21 years and maximum age limit is 30 years. Upper age limits are 32 years for M.Phil and 34 years for PhD degree holders.

  • Educational Qualifications: Candidates should at least have an undergraduate degree to appear for the RBI Grade B exam. 

  • Nationality: Only Indian Nationals and citizens of Nepal and Bhutan are eligible to appear in the RBI exam. 

  • Number of Attempts: Candidates from the unreserved category can appear for the exam up to 6 times.


 

  1. RBI Grade C Exam:

 

  • Age: The candidate must be of 25 years of age and must not be above 35 years of age.

  • Educational Qualification: Candidate must have qualified graduation or post-graduation degree from a recognised university or institution.

  • Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India in order to be eligible for the exam

 

  1. RBI Assistant Exam:

  • Age: Candidate should be between 21 years and 28 years of age.

  • Educational Qualifications: Candidates should at least have an undergraduate degree to appear for the exam.

  • Nationality: Only Indian Nationals and candidates of Nepal and Bhutan are eligible to appear for the RBI exam. 

  1. RBI JE Exam:

 

  • Age:  The minimum and maximum age of the candidate to apply for the exam should be 20 years and 30 years respectively.

  • Educational Qualification: Candidate should have a graduation degree from a recognized university or institution.

FAQ’s

Q1. If someone has scored 50% marks in graduation, is he eligible for RBI Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR, DEPR and DSIM?

For General and OBC candidates at least 55% marks in graduation or in any other equivalent qualification are required in order to be eligible for this exam.

Q2. How many attempts can be taken for RBI Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General), DR, DEPR, and DSIM?

Candidates who belong to the unreserved i.e. General Category, and have already appeared Six times for Phase-I Examination in the past, are not eligible to apply. 

Q3. Is there any interview after the written result in RBI Grade B exam?

Yes, an interview round is conducted for the candidates who are declared qualified in the Phase-II exam.

Q4. Is the RBI exam Bilingual?

All the tests, be it Prelims or Mains, except for the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.

Q5. What are RBI promotions based upon?

For any internal promotions at the Reserve Bank of India, you are required to qualify through various competitive exams in order to get a higher place and senior-level like General Managers.
