FSSAI Overview

FSSAI stands for Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. It works under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The major area of responsibility of FSSAI is to protect and promote public health by regulating food safety and setting up benchmarks of food quality.

Exams Conducted by FSSAI

FSSAI conducts recruitment examination to hire potential candidates for the designation of District Director, Manager, Administrative Officer, and various other posts. The written exam conducted by FSSAI is for the candidates who have already qualified for the CBT (Computer-based Test), and such qualified candidates can apply for their choice of centres for the written exam.

FSSAI invites applications from potential candidates to appear for the recruitment process of various posts, through an official notification which is released on the career portal of FSSAI. For 2020, the recruitment notification was released in March 2020. 

FSSAI Exam Dates

The important dates pertaining to the recruitment exam conducted by FSSAI are as follows:

1. The online application window for the FSSAI recruitment exam is open from 9th March 2020 to 12th June 2020.

2. Candidates can choose the centre preference through online mode until 13th September 2020.

3. The FSSAI online exam is scheduled to be held on 10th and 11th October 2020.

FSSAI Exam Eligibility

The eligibility criteria are specified in the recruitment notification so that candidates who fulfill the eligibility norms shall fill up the examination form.

1. Age: Candidates below the age of 56 years are eligible to sit for the FSSAI Exam.

2. Educational Qualification: 

1. For the post of Advisor and Assistant Director, the candidate must have a post-graduation degree in Chemistry, Bio-chemistry, or Food Technology from any recognized university or institution.

2. For the post of Joint Director, Deputy Director, Assistant, Sr. Private Secretary, and Personnel Secretary, the candidate must have a graduation degree from a recognized university or institution.

3. For the post of Administrative Officer and Senior Manager, the candidate must have a post-graduation degree from a recognized University or Institution with English and Hindi as mandatory subjects.

4. For the post of Manager and Deputy Manager, the candidate must have done B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science or any other related Engineering Discipline or MCA. 

FSSAI Exam Pattern

All aspiring candidates must go through the exam pattern for the FSSAI recruitment exam so as to get a clear idea about the syllabus, types of questions and the weightage of each subject. The selection process for FSSAI recruitment comprises of the following two stages:

1. Online examination

2. Personal interview

• In the online exam the Part A General Aptitude and Computer Literacy will have 25 questions.

• Part B Functional Knowledge Test will have 75 questions.

• Total time allowed for the exam is 2 hours.

• The exam is an objective test with Multiple Choice Questions.

• There is a scheme of negative marking and one mark is deducted for each wrong answer attempted by the candidates.
