CISF Overview

CISF stands for Central Industrial Security Force and is the Central Armed Police Force in India. The major duties of the CISF include safeguarding the government properties, guarding the Delhi Metro and offering airport security. Currently, more than 148,371 personnel are working for the CISF. 

Exams Conducted by CISF

The CISF recruitment process is managed and controlled by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission. The UPSC conducts the CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) exam annually to recruit candidates for the post of Assistant Commandant in CISF. UPSC also conducts an inter-departmental exam called the Assistant Commandant Executive Limited Departmental Competitive Exam CISF AC (EXE) LDCE.

CISF Exam Calendar

UPSC releases an official notification for the recruitment of candidates in CISF. The recruitment notification is listed on the official UPSC portal with all the details regarding the exam dates, number of posts and other technical specifications. For 2020, the notification for CAPF exam was released on 18th August 2020 and for CISF AC (EXE) LDCE, the notification was released on 2nd December 2020. 

CISF Exam Dates

The important dates for CISF recruitment are as follows:

  1. Candidates can fill up the online examination form for CAPF until 7th September 2020.

  2. The CAPF exam for 2020 is scheduled to be held on 20th December 2020.

  3. The online application window for CISF AC (EXE) LDCE exam is open between 2nd December to 22nd December 2020.

  4. The CISF AC (EXE) LDCE exam is scheduled to be held on 14th March 2021 and the interview for the qualified candidates is scheduled to be held in July 2021.

Vacancies are decided by the recruiting body basis the number of posts required to be filled and are mentioned in the recruitment notification released by the authority.

  1. Total number of posts required to be filled through CISF CAPF exam is 69.

  2. Total number of posts required to be filled through CISF AC (EXE) LDCE exam is 23.

 

CISF Exam Eligibility

It is important for all aspiring candidates to check the eligibility so that the application has no chance of getting rejected.

  1. CISF CAPF Exam

  1. Age: The minimum and maximum age of the candidate should be 20 years and 25 years, respectively.

  2. Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India to be eligible for the exam.

  3. Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized university or institution. 

 

  1. CISF AC (EXE) LDCE Exam

  1. Age: The maximum age of the candidate should not be more than 35 years.

  2. Educational Qualification: Candidates should be a graduate in any discipline from any recognized university or institution.

  3. Nationality: Candidate should be a citizen of India in order to be eligible to sit for the exam.

  4. There are certain prescribed physical and medical standards that a candidate needs to attain and candidates who meet such standards shall be put through Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

 

CISF Exam Pattern

It is very important for all aspiring candidates to understand the exam pattern as it gives a clear idea about the syllabus and types of questions that might appear in the exam.

The CISF CAPF exam is conducted in following three stages:

  1. Written Test with Two papers out of which Paper 1 is an objective test and Paper 2 is a descriptive test.

  2. Physical efficiency and medical test

  3. Personal ability test and interview

The CISF AC (EXE) LDCE Exam is conducted in two stages:

  1. Written examination consisting of two papers. The first paper is of 300 marks and the time allowed in 2.5 hours. The second paper is of 100 marks and the time allowed is 2 hours.

  2. Personal interview.
