BPSC Overview

Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is an authorized body created by the Constitution of India to recruit candidates for various state departments in Bihar. The commission is incorporated to aid the Bihar State Government in matters of recruitment and disciplinary matters, of public service in the state. 

Exams Conducted by BPSC

BPSC conducts the CCE (Combined Competitive Exam) to hire candidates for Group A, B, and C posts for the state administration of Bihar. CCE is considered to be one of the most sought-after competitive exams for civil servants and candidates from across the country appear for this exam. 

BPSC Exam Calendar

BPSC releases the recruitment notification on the official portal to recruit candidates for various civil services. For 2020-21 recruitment, the official notification was released in the month of February 2020. As per the notification, the BPSC 64th CCE Mains, 65th CCE Prelims and Mains, and 66th CCE Prelims and Mains, shall be held this year.

BPSC Exam Dates

The important dates pertaining to the BPSC CCE exams are as follows:

The online application window to apply for the BPSC CCE exam is open between 28th September 2020 to 28th October 2020.

  1. 64th BPSC CCE exam:

The interview date for the Mains exam is scheduled to be held between 1st to 23rd December 2020 in Phase 1 and 4th January to 10th February 2021 in Phase 2.

  1. 65th BPSC CCE exam:

The Mains exam is scheduled to be held on 25th, 26th, and 28th November 2020

  1. 66th BPSC CCE exam:

The Prelims exam is scheduled to be held on 6th December 2020 and the date of the Mains exam is yet to be notified.

BPSC Exam Eligibility

The eligibility norms for BPSC exams are as follows:

  1. Age: The age limit specified for the candidates is between 22-37 years.
  2. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a graduation or equivalent degree from any recognized university or institution.

BPSC Exam Pattern

The BPSC exams comprise of the following three stages:

  1. Prelims Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Personal Interview

The Prelims exam is an objective test of total 150 marks and the time allowed is 2 hours.

The Mains exam is a descriptive test comprising of four papers and the time allowed is 3 hours for each paper.

The interview is also marked out of 120 marks.
