Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Overview

Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) conducts Civil Services Examination to recruit potential candidates for various State departments and services under the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

APPSC conducts various examinations to recruit candidates for the Group 1 and Group 2 cadre for various state government executive and non-executive posts.

Arunachal Pradesh PSC Exam Calendar

APPSC releases an official recruitment notification on the portal, specifying the exam dates for Prelims and Mains, eligibility norms, number of vacancies, and other technical specifications. The recruitment notification for Group 1 was released in April 2020 and the Group 2 notification was released in July 2020.

Arunachal Pradesh PSC Exam Dates

The important dates pertaining to APPSC Group 1 and Group 2 exams are as follows:

  1. The online application window for the Group 1 exam 2021 shall be open between 1st week to 4th week of January 2021.
  2. The Prelims exam for Group 1 2021 recruitment is tentatively scheduled to be held in 2nd week of March 2021 and the Mains exam is scheduled to be held in 2nd week of June 2021.
  3. For 2020, the Group 1 exam was scheduled between 2nd November 2020 to 13th November 2020.
  4. For 2020, the application window for Group 2 exam was open between July 2020 to August 2020. 
  5. The Group 2 Prelims exam was scheduled to be held in October 2020 and the Mains exam was scheduled to be held in January 2021. The interview is scheduled to be held in April 2021.
  6. For 2021 recruitment, the Group 2 exam dates are not yet notified.

Vacancies for Arunachal Pradesh PSC Exams

The vacancies are decided by the recruiting authority depending upon the number of posts required to be filled. 

  1. Total vacancies released for Group 1 cadre in 2020 recruitment notification are 169.
  2. Total vacancies released for Group 2 cadre in 2020 recruitment notification are 820.

Arunachal Pradesh PSC Exam Eligibility

The eligibility criteria are specified in the official notification and candidates fulfilling the eligibility norms should fill up the exam form so that the application has no chance of getting rejected.

  1. Arunachal Pradesh PSC Group 1 Exam:
  1. Nationality: The candidate should be a citizen of India to sit for the exam. Also, the candidate should preferably be from the Arunachal Pradesh domicile.
  2. Age: The candidate should not be less than 18 years of age and should not be more than 42 years of age.
  3. Educational Qualification: For various cadres under Group 1 post the education requirement varies. Candidates must have a degree in Engineering/Economics/Mathematics/Commerce/B.E(Fire)/any Bachelor’s degree, from any recognized university or institution.
  4. Physical Requirement: The notification also specifies the physical requirement for height and health, for various cadres under Group 1 post. 

 

  1. Arunachal Pradesh PSC Group 2 Exam:
  1. Nationality: Candidate must be an Indian citizen in order to be eligible to sit for the exams and also must have a domicile of Arunachal Pradesh.
  2. Age: The minimum and maximum age of the candidate should be 18 years and 42 years, respectively.
  3. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university or institution.

Arunachal Pradesh PSC Exam Pattern

The recruitment process of APPSC is for Group 1 and Group 2 and the selected candidates are placed under different cadres of state-level departments. 

The Group 1 recruitment exam consists of the following three stages:

  1. Prelims Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Interview

The Prelims exam consists of two papers and is an objective type test. Both the papers are of 120 marks each and the time allowed is 2 hours. The Mains exam is a descriptive test with total of 825 marks.

The Group 2 recruitment exam also consists of three stages:

  1. Prelims Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Interview

The Prelims exam consists of three subjects and the time allowed is 2.5 hours. The total marks allotted to the Prelims exam is 150. Candidates who qualify for the Prelims exam shall be eligible to appear for the Mains exam. The Mains exam is of total 450 marks and the subjects are the same as the Prelims exam.
