Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) Overview

Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) is an organization that manages and imparts education to the children of the Indian Armed Forces through local military authorities. The Indian Armed Forces have a total of 137 Army Public Schools and 249 Army Pre-Primary Schools.

AWES Exam Dates

The important dates related to the AWES recruitment exam are as follows:

  1. The online registration window for the AWES recruitment exam is open from 1st October 2020 to 20th October 2020.

  2. The admit cards for the recruitment exam shall be available from 4th November 2020.

  3. The exam for AWES recruitment is scheduled to be held on 21st and 22nd November 2020.

  4. The results for AWES recruitment is scheduled to be declared on 2nd December 2020.

Vacancies for AWES Exam

The vacancies are decided by the AWES based on the number of teachers required. For 2020 recruitment, the AWES has released a total of 8000 vacancies for PGT, TGT, and PRT posts.

AWES Exam Eligibility

Before applying for TGT/PGT OR PRT post for Army Public Schools, candidates should ensure that they fall under the eligibility norms as specified in the AWES recruitment notification so that the application has no chance of getting rejected. 

  1. Age: For freshers, the candidate should be less than 40 years of age. For an experience teacher post with 5-10 years of experience, the candidate should be below 57 years of age.

  2. Educational Qualification

  1. For PGT: Candidate must have a post-graduation degree along with B.Ed degree with minimum 50% marks.

  2. For TGT: Candidate must have a graduation degree along with B.Ed degree with minimum 50% marks.

  3. For PRT: Candidate must have a graduation degree along with B.Ed or two-year diploma course with minimum 50% marks.

AWES Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is specified in the recruitment notification and gives the candidates a clear idea about the syllabus, subjects, and types of questions to be asked in the examination. The AWES recruitment consists of the following three stages:

  1. Online examination

  2. Personal interview

  3. Evaluation of teaching skills and computer proficiency

 

  • The AWES recruitment exam for Army Public Schools is an online objective test in the form of Multiple-Choice Questions.

  • For the post of PGT and TGT, the online exam has Part A and Part B of total 180 marks and the time allowed is 3 hours. For the post of PRT, the online exam is total of 90 marks and the time allowed is 90 minutes.

  • Candidate must score at least 50% marks in each section to qualify. 

  • There is also a scheme of negative marking and one-fourth mark is deducted for each wrong answer attempted by the candidate.

  • After qualifying for the online test, the candidate can choose the region of their choice.

  • For language teacher, a separate test of essay and comprehension is conducted.

The syllabus for AWES recruitment exam is decided by the recruiting authority and generally does not change every year. The syllabus comprises of the following subjects:

The tests for all three posts will be held concurrently so any candidate cannot apply for all three posts. If a candidate qualifies for the PGT post, he can also take up the appointment of TGT/PRT based on the availability of vacancies.
