Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination of the IBPS CRP Clerk is qualifying in nature and marks obtained in it do not play a role in preparing the final merit list. Simply put, the Preliminary Examination is a screening test for filtering capable candidates for the Mains Examination.
As for the exam pattern, the Preliminary Examination consists of 3 different sections - Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and English Language. The total accommodated time is 60 minutes, with each section having its time limit as well.

Along with the overall cut-off, candidates are also required to secure sectional cut-offs. While 1 mark is awarded for every correct answer, each incorrect answer, on the other hand, attracts a penalty of 1/4th of the marks allotted for that particular question.
Mains Examination
The Mains Examinations, which is the second stage of the IBPS CRP Clerk recruitment process, is also held in online mode. Incorporating four sections, namely General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude, and General/Financial Awareness, the exam features a time limit of 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Similar to the Preliminary Examination, there is a sectional time limit in the Mains Examination as well. Moreover, there is no sectional cut-off and candidate are not required to secure minimum passing marks in each of the sections. The marking scheme is also the same as the Preliminary Examination, an incorrect answer, there is a penalty of one-fourth of the marks allotted to that question for.
