UPSC Overview
UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission and all major competitive examinations in India mainly the Civil Service Examinations are conducted by UPSC. UPSC organizes recruitment drives for various Civil Services Examinations like IAS (Indian Administrative Services), IFS (Indian Foreign Services), IPS (Indian Police Services) and IRS (Indian Revenue Services. Recruitment through UPSC is done by three methods- Direct Recruitment, Promotion and Transfer (Deputation) basis. UPSC works directly under the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India.

The important dates for various UPSC examinations are as follows:

The UPSC IAS Prelims exam for 2020 is scheduled to be held on 4th October 2020 and the Mains exam is expected to be held on 8th January 2021.

The UPSC Engineering Services Prelims and Mains exam for 2020 are scheduled to take place on 5th January 2020 and 18th Oct 2020, respectively. For 2021, the Prelims and Mains are tentative to be held on 18th July 2021 and 10th October 2021.

UPSC Exams Eligibility
It is very important for the aspiring candidates to check the eligibility criteria. The major areas to check for eligibility are age, nationality, educational qualification and experience. Q1. If a candidate hesitates to speak in English, is it possible that he takes the Civil Services Main Exam in English and appear for the interview in Hindi language?
A candidate should not be afraid of such things, because UPSC has already formulated certain rules in this regard. If you choose to take the Civil Services Main Exam in English language, you may either choose English as the medium for interview or Hindi or any other Indian language.
