IBPS Overview

 

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, also as the IBPS is an autonomous body. It conducts recruitment examinations for all Public Sector Banks except the SBI, because SBI has its own regulatory authority that takes care of the banking examinations. Over the years, it has also provided services related to assessment and testing for different banks through various bank exams.

The Institute is governed by a board of nominees from different government bodies and banks such as the RBI, Ministry of Finance, IIT Mumbai, NIBM and IBA.

The IBPS conducts the following major examinations:

 

  1. IBPS PO Examination

IBPS Exams Calendar

 

The IBPS Exam dates for the 2020 recruitment are released in the IBPS calendar 2020. A notification was released in Jan 2020, on the official portal of IBPS with details of all the important dates regarding various banking examinations. Since the IBPS examination dates are subject to change from time to time, hence the candidates are advised to keep checking the official portal for recent updates.

 

IBPS PO Exam dates

 

The important IBPS PO Exam dates for 2020 exam are as follows:

 

  • The IBPS PO mains exam is scheduled to be conducted February, 2021 and the online application for the same will open on August 26, 2020.

  • The IBPS SO exam is scheduled to be conducted in January 2021, and the online application for the same will open from November 2, 2020.

  • The IBPS Clerk exam online application window will open between October 23 to November 6, 2020 and the prelims exam is scheduled to be held on December 13, 2020 and the mains exam will be conducted on February, 28,2021.

  • The IBPS RRB examinations shall be conducted on January 30, 2021 and February 20,2021 for Officer Scale 1 and Office Assistant post, respectively. The online application window for the same will open on October 22, 2020.


 

Vacancies for Various IBPS Exams

 

The IBPS Vacancies are decided by the recruiting body of the Public Sector Banking exams. The IBPS vacancies are mentioned below for the following exams:

  • IBPS PO:  The number of vacancies for IBPO now stand at 3517 as against 1417, which were released as per the earlier notification.

  • IBPS SO:   The post of SO involves highly skilled and specialized officers, who are excellent in their domain and area, hence, only 647 vacancies are available for this post. Last year the number of vacancies were 1163. 

  • IBPS Clerk:  The IBPS Clerk vacancies for the year 2020-21 stands at 2557.

  • IBPS RRB:  The total number of vacancies combined for various Officer scale post and Officer Assistant Post, stand at 10,493.


 

IBPS Exams Eligibility

 

It is very important to check for the eligibility criteria before applying for the examination. A candidate should be aware whether he or she does fall under the eligible category so that the application has no chance of getting rejected afterwards. 

 

The IBPS Eligibility for various exams is mentioned below:

 

  1. IBPS PO Exam Eligibility:

  • The minimum age to apply for the IBPS PO exam is 20 years and the maximum age stands at 30. A candidate who is older than 30 years cannot apply for this exam. Age relaxation is provided for various other categories and class of people.

  • The candidate should be a citizen of India, in order to be eligible to sit for the exam. 

  • Candidates who wish to appear for the PO exam should at least have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

 

  1. IBPS SO Exam Eligibility:

  •  The SO exam requires the candidate to be a citizen of India.

  • The minimum age limit of the candidate should be 20 years and the maximum age limit should be 30 years. Age relaxation is however provided for various categories and classes of people.

  • IBPS So recruits candidates for various posts and the basic educational qualification requirement is a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institution.

 

  1. IBPS Clerk Exam Eligibility:

  • The age limit specified for the IBPS Clerk exam is 20 to 28 years. This means that the candidate should have been born not earlier than 02.09.1992 and not later than 01.09.2000.

  • A candidate must possess the minimum qualification of Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. 

  • The candidate should be a citizen of India to sit for the exam.

 

  1. IBPS RRB Exam Eligibility:

  • The Candidate must be a national of India, Bhutan and Nepal.

  • The minimum age limit for the post of Officer Scale 1 and 2 is 21 years and 18 years for the post of Officer Assistant.

  • Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institution and requisite experience as prescribed by IBPS.
